Book review: Tomorrow, When the War Began (The Tomorrow Series, #1)

Tomorrow, When the War Began (The Tomorrow Series, #1)Tomorrow, When the War Began by John Marsden
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I’ve had the movie on my to-watch list for quite a while now, but since I like to read the book before seeing the movie/tv adaptation, I’ve had to postpone watching it. I finally found the time to read the book and really enjoyed it.
I felt like the characters were so different from the usual stereotypical helpless teenagers which was a breath of fresh air. These kids grew up in the “wilderness” and know how to survive and aren’t afraid to fight back. I really enjoyed all the characters, especially the main protagonist Ellie, but also Homer. his transformation was especially great to read.
It was so easy to lose yourself in the story and experience what these kids did. The story feels very realistic and I for one am really looking forward to reading the sequels since the ending definitely made me curious about where it’s all heading.
